Like everyone that has ever had to deal with cellulite, your fight is no different. Regardless of how much you diet and exercise. Getting rid of cellulite is no easy task.
Is cellulite caused by genetics?
The truth of the matter is, whether you have cellulite or not is generally a matter of genetics. Statistics say that 85%-90% of all women have at least some cellulite. That sure is a lot of genetics. But there are effective cellulite treatments available.
Can weight gain be the culprit?
Believe it or not, most people believe that cellulite is mainly caused by weight gain. That mass belief could not be further from the truth. The real culprit is dehydrated and damaged skin. Which in effect causes a weakening of the connective tissue and skin cells. Within the last few years, great advances have been made in cellulite treatment products.
In fact there are many different and varied myths about cellulite. These are the three main myths?
1. Only Women get cellulite
False: Many men get cellulite, not nearly the percentage as women, but enough to make women feel better. Statistics show that as many as 5,000 men sought treatment for cellulite last year alone. These are only the ones that sought treatment, we can only imagine how many have cellulite but do not seek treatment.
2. Liposuction works to reduce and eliminate cellulite.
False: Cellulite is fat that resides under the topmost layer of skin. Liposuction will not work in removing the fat in this layer. It will only work in removing fatty deposits in deeper layers. In fact, liposuction can and most probably will make your cellulite even worse.
3. Drink a lot of water will help to reduce cellulite.
False Again: Drinking massive amounts of water can actually enhance your cellulite problem. Over hydration will in fact make your cellulite appear even worse.
Some of the main ingredients in cellulite treatment creams and lotions actually work to remove excess water from your body, thereby improving the appearance of your cellulite and giving the appearance of firmer and smoother skin.
